School Resident Groups Catering

Braeside catering

Our aim is to provide an exceptionally high standard of cuisine to suit all tastes and diets.  We stress the importance of this service as we know that it significantly contributes to the success of any visit or course.

Our catering team prepare and present all meals in the dining room, which can seat up to 72 people.

Various styles of presentation are offered and we are able to meet any special requests subject to a short period of notice.    Specific dietary requirements can also be catered for by prior arrangement.

There is also a small servery where residents may make drinks at anytime and where supper is available.

Braeside has an excellent reputation for food.  The evening meals consist of a hot meal and pudding.  There is always a vegetarian alternative and usually a salad bar as well.

Meal times are usually:

  • Breakfast:8.15 am
  • Lunch:12.45 pm (usually picnic lunch, times may vary)
  • Dinner:6.00 pm (times may be altered to suit requirements)

Picnic Lunches

The Braeside picnic lunch aims to reduce non-biodegradable waste.  Resident groups follow the following arrangement:

  1. After breakfast the group leaves the dining room as usual.
  2. At approx. 9.30am the group return to the dining room with their lunch box (It is essential that pupils bring a good lunch box about 2 litre in capacity).
  3. The pupils collect their sandwiches (fillings chosen the night before as usual).  Sandwiches are wrapped in biodegradable paper.
  4. Pupils continue along a line of tables choosing other items for their lunch from fresh fruit, dried fruits and nuts (if no allergies), cut vegetables.  Paper bags are available to put these into if needed.
  5. Packets of biscuits will be given to the staff to distribute at lunchtime or mid morning/afternoon.
  6. Drinks are not supplied unless specifically requested – pupils should bring and refill their water bottles.  Braeside has many water bottles to refill if pupils lose or forget theirs.  (In hot weather 2 water bottles are recommended).

Other snacks are provided, especially afternoon tea and cake for staff (squash and biscuits for pupils). In the evenings a cheese board (for staff) / bread and spreads (For secondary pupils) / squash and biscuits (for primary pupils) are placed in the house kitchenette for you to organise supper.

Any special dietary requirements can be catered for by prior arrangement (usually via the Medical Details Form).  Parents are invited to contact us directly to discuss any concerns regarding allergies or dietary requirements.
