Low Level Ropes and Team Building
These activities are designed to encourage social interaction and in particular reinforce the importance of co-operation, communication, organisation, leadership etc. in a group situation. Some activities also require a degree of physical skill and balance. For the ropes course activities climbing helmets must be worn (available at the Centre) and jewellery and other hard objects removed, to avoid injury when falling. Usually a rotation of activities in groups between 6 and 10 is followed.
The individual activities take about 20 minutes each and the ropes course needs about 1 hour minimum. The ropes course must be led by a trained adult. The ropes course can also be used as an evening activity, leader availability permitting.
Running Time: On Site, half a day minimum (extra cost to pupils)
Swinging Tyres

A number of tyres are suspended on chains from the overhead beam. Individuals attempt to cross the gap to the next element.
Multi Vine
Suspended rope vines and a wire foot cable are the only means of crossing this section, which require balance and co-ordination to complete successfully. The task can become more difficult by removing some of the suspended vines.
Swinging Log

The log is suspended by chains and moves around. The hand rope can be removed, which allows the log to become a great element for building trust and encouraging "spotting". This encourages individuals to look out for each other's safety and become more aware of the need for safe and sensible behaviour.
Balance Beam
A simple activity when used as part of the Low Challenge Course. However, a little creativity can transform this element into a great communication exercise, with the use of blindfolds. In addition to this the beam can become an individual problem solving exercise commonly known as the TP Shuffle. A team sits on the beam and they are asked to rearrange themselves in a different order (e.g. youngest at one end and oldest at the other). They must then change places without touching the ground.
