Education - One-day Programmes

Young people on outdoor programme

Braeside offers a variety of programmes for young people that are non-residential but based at Braeside and run by a member of the Braeside teaching team.

The programmes cover a range of subject areas which are based outdoors and involve hands-on interaction from the pupils. Through an active learning environment pupils gain valuable skills, can be creative and constructive and develop their communication skills and team work.

Although each day has a structured activity programme it is possible to change the days slightly, depending on your school’s requirements, providing this is discussed when the booking is taken.

The cost of these programmes varies depending on the activities being followed. A morning drink and biscuit will be included in the day, however pupils will need to bring their own packed lunch. We set a minimum number of pupils at 20 in order to cover our costs (with the exception of canoeing where we can take a maximum of 15 pupils).

Please use the links below to find more details of the programmes on offer.

Students will be expected to wear old, warm, outdoor clothes, not school uniform and comfortable walking shoes/trainers. A waterproof coat is essential and hat and gloves or sun hat and sun cream depending on the weather.

Some ideas for involving your pupils/students in preparing for this visit:

You may find it useful to review a few topics prior to their visit. This can be specifically related to the topics they will be covering in the National Curriculum. Each of the day programmes includes a list of the areas of the curriculum that will be specifically covered to help you here.
